What makes a Jackson Kayak design so special?
They each have a very specific purpose in our line and they fit perfectly in today's kayaking world. Our first boat out of our Rock Island facility will be the Fun1. The Fun 1 is a kid's boat for 40-100 pounders. Crazy? Absolutely, so crazy it is going to work. We will go right up the Fun scale from there. We are creating the Fun Series for general river-running and playing. In short, the Fun Series gets you down the river with a smile, no quirks or weirdness to make you wish you were in something else. They roll nicely for beginners, while boofing easily for experts. They feature the highest tech hull David and I have ever designed, and play all day anywhere. Check out the Fun Series pages for details. Sure, we will bring you the latest greatest of the freestyle boats. Fast, nimble, and afraid of low elevations, the All-Star is for all moves from the ground up. See the All-Star details page. What can you find in all Jackson Kayak designs? LCDČ That stands for lightweight, comfortable, durable, and dry. Our boats will be unique in many areas. Our goal is to make them lightweight, comfortable, dry, and durable. Lightweight: Creating the lightest production whitewater kayaks requires both lightweight outfitting and hulls. Without the right materials and proper engineering of both the outfitting and hulls it is not possible to make them lightweight and functional. Our hulls will be made from the toughest material available in roto-molding, cross-linked polyethylene. Our outfitting is unique and takes the minimalist approach. The goal is to create a Ferrari, not a Cadillac. Pick one up and it will be hard not to smile. Take it on the water for some river running or playing and you will be hooked to lightweight boats. Then carry it back to the truck and load it up, now you are sure. Each of our boats will get proportionately lighter as they get smaller. This way your kid who is only 60 pounds is carrying way less than the 200 pounder.
Comfortable: Paddling all day is way more enjoyable when your are not in pain. We went out of our way to focus on a simple outfitting plan and ergonomic fit that is friendly to most lower-body types. We hope that you can get in more hours on the water with out any grimacing due to discomfort than ever before. Durable: All of our boats will be made from cross-linked polyethylene. Do you remember when boats were lighter, stronger, lasted longer, and sold for a good price used? Well, that was back when all good boats were made from cross-linked material. Today, we will be the only manufacturer of whitewater kayaks to use cross-linked polyethylene. (if you aren't drooling already, you are new to the sport and haven't experienced the difference) Why aren't most boats made from this material? Cost is the primary reason- 50% more expensive and 40% more time in the oven. We'll eat the difference so you can have the best. Dry: Every screw hole in a boat leaks. Twice as many holes, twice the water (more or less). How about holes in the boat that are always under the water? What were they thinking? A Jackson Kayak has Zero holes through it! How dry is that? Our boats are as dry as your skirt and drytop. Add a very well thought out cockpit rim and you have the driest boat possible. Personally, I find water in my boat annoying at the least. I am sure you will be smiling after a few hours on the water and still dry. What do I mean, "dry"? I mean put your peanut butter and jelly sandwhich on the bottom and go surfing and you will still have a sandwich, not soup. Nobody likes water in their boats, especially me. |
