The
WhiteWater clinics are held at the Power Outdoor
Olympic Center in San Marcos Texas. The
price includes your kayak, spray skirt, helmet, PFD, paddle Saturday and Sunday
lunches as well as Sunday breakfast. Lodging is the responsibility of the
student but you can call the POOC (866-222-7998)
to reserve a bunk or floor space. They also have areas for tent camping.
The WhiteWater clinic is 2 ½ days beginning Friday
evening at the POOC. Feel free to show up early as there are lots of fun things
to do in San Marcos.
Friday evening is spent getting to know each other
and learning the students existing skill set and comfort level. This allows the
instructors to customize the clinic to best fit the individual student needs.
Once all introductions and paper work are complete, we will move out to the
river to demonstrate the wet exits and a few safety maneuvers.
Saturday begins at 10:00 a.m. on the river and
will last until about 5:00 p.m. The student will learn specific strokes and
maneuvers and practice them on moving water along the San Marcos River. Some
gentle vertical drops will be encountered which are exhilarating and fun!
Sunday begins at 10:00 a.m. The day is spent
getting in river time using the skills you acquired from Saturday. The class
will wrap between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. depending on folks travel needs.
